Weekend Preview: The Order #9 http://www.marvel.com/news/comics.2882.Weekend_Preview:_The_Order_%239 ![]() Even though Mr Kitson's disappointing reduced contribution to this issue was distractive, The Order still proved a consistent good title this week with this penultimate chapter. ![]() Though Tony Stark does not appear and is encouraged not to make an appearance (by Kate who did have a point), his presence is most assuredly felt. The preview page above all but states that his origin gets a properly done retcon of sorts - focussing on a minor cameo character and expanding on Dunphy's MU significance. It is fair to assume that Tony consciensciously took a personal interest in helping with Dennis recovery. Now it's just debatable is making him an disposable hero is a good thing or not. The interview sequence was done in a horizontal mode which was a neat change. Anthem showed excellent leadership by deferring field mission control to Heavy. Not sure exactly what the 'shhk' effect was. Also not sure why Aralune and Milo were ½zombie on the cover. Hope the name Hybrid doesn't stick for these two - Hybrid will always be the cool villain to emerge from the greatest of all Spaceknight's series. We get quite the battle with the cliche collection of all villains to appear so far in the series. In hindsight, maybe some outside notables along the way may've helped grab a wider audience. Also, the team falling for the the death trap, en masse, was... stupid on their part. Poor Holly. Mulholland is now added to the 'out of control heroes' that have killed list. Wonder how her hammer would fare against the likes of Iron Man or Thor or Venom or Man-Thing, yes empathic Man-Thing. Iron Man will HAVE to keep an eye on Stane Jr. if he survives next issue. He shows more of the dangerous/lunatic qualities with his attempt to kill Los Angeles JUST to say "@#$#% YOU Tony Stark". It's a shame The Order is being cancelled. At least Ant-man was published 'til 12! Glad to hear Pepper still has a future. It seems unlikely we'll get fair closure as to exactly what happens after one year of SOMA participation in the FINAL ISSUE - which would be most appropriate. A Special One Shot to whole deal with that very topic would be my 'order'. ![]() Comment on BATO #5: ![]() Enter a caption contest: ![]() | |||||||
