Subj: New Warriors 15...
Posted: Tue Sep 02, 2008 at 03:21:53 pm EDT (Viewed 34 times)

Read many good and bad titles this week (hence another -too long?- PBP). NW, to date, has been hit and miss and this issue itself had many of BOTH in it...

-hit.

-BIG hit! Really fun to pretend Marvel was listening! Been begging for headshots! Thank you! (Not sure about Wondra's coloring.)

-hit. Prerequisite clash splash. Nicely done.

-BIG miss. Only the start of a big miss ALL ISSUE where the Warriors in action was so unclear of who was doing what to whom. Lots of energy in the layout effort but just as much terribly unclear/unexplained energy effects.

-miss. More unclear fighting than clear. "KRAK!KRAK!KRAK!"?? Red ground stomp effect?

-hit and miss. HATE the undefined power of the batons. Loved the inconvenience for Donyell and significance of the decision to reveal his identity in a bannerific moment: http://members3.boardhost.com/NewWarriors/

-hit. Good initial reactions and truce.

-hit and miss. Taylortech: good; odd how much of the USA almost stops if Starktech goes down. Body retrieval: bad; theyre heroes and stopping the Invasion should take priority. This writer acknowledges a multi Helicarrier fleet that diminishes the uniqueness of that Marvel icon -- which is good AND bad.

  • -hit. Heat of the action. Thrash actions are entertaining.

  • -miss. Unclear/ineffective ways of jumping ship. SHIELD is shooting at superhero impersonator skrulls on top of any usual pirateers - the NW are just giving them the broad side of a barn to aim at. At a loss why Rage is so bloody big all issue. Dislike Vance's power effect visual. Disagree with Wondra's coloring.

  • -hit and miss. Gutsy move but poor layout with too quick an escape route by Thrash to regroup and take lead of the team stiiill diving minus powers effects.

-5 pages of MISS. Sure its good to see SHIELD agents and New Warriors in action but it was terribly unclear again exactly what powers&effects were being used. The New Warriors barely played second fiddle to Counter Force and there sudden surprise/fear of a Super-Skrull present was off.

-2 pages of hit. Could sense the change in atmosphere. Assume Vance and NT are not wise enough to know that ALL skrulls(during SI) revert to true forms upon death. Dont like that Namor never reclaimed Nita's remains but the interlude worked.

  • -2 more pages of miss. Same action messiness mentioned.

  • -hit and miss. Liked SHIELD backup arriving. Disliked SHIELD and Counter Force telling fugitive NW to hightail it and the fact that NW would consider massing together and giving up the fight for Earth. And did Rage get even bigger? May be spoiled because just read BP#40 battle which was comparitively fantastic.

  • -hit. Great Thrash/Justice dynamic continues.

-miss. The Next Day??! What happened? Tell the readers! They have time for a memorial??! They better not have buried the actual bodies or stolen stasis tubes. And where is this place??! Hideous silhouettes in the skyline.

  • -hit. Still intrigued by the main mysterious masterplan going on with Night Thrasher.

    Dane too!Batgirl too!
    Blaze too!Ororo too!

  • I miss you, Dan. I miss you, Dan. I miss you, Dan.
I miss you, Dan. I miss you, Dan. I miss you, Dan.
