Hello, and welcome to ComicBoards.com's Green Lantern Message Board. Sometimes volatile, sometimes controversial and always interesting, the board require a few rules and guidelines in addition to ComicBoards.com Guidelines to keep things running smoothly and happily for all concerned. Above all, enjoy, discuss and even disagree, but, keep in mind your manners.
#1: IMPERSONATING OTHERS:
- Choose whatever name you wish for the boards, but under NO circumstances will you intentionally impersonate another poster or a creator.
- Please use one name at a time and if you switch, make it known you're doing so. We want people to know with whom they speak, and we want to form a community.
#2: NO PROFANITY:
- Please keep profanity to an absolute minimum. You can find other words to get your point across without resulting to profanity. This is an all ages message board and we want to maintain at the VERY WORST a PG-13 level of discourse.
- Under no circumstances should any profanity (or even "cleverly" disguised profanity) be used in the subject line of a message.
#3: NO SPAM:
- Spam is defined as any message which does not relate to the topic of the message board, is solely posted to advertise a personal site, a money making scheme, a chain letter, or something of that nature.
#4: NO FLAMES/INSULTS:
- Blatantly insulting behavior is prohibited. This includes insults to both posters and lurkers, including comic creators who are more likely to lurk than post. By all means feel free to critique the work--but not the person.
- Tempers may run high, but, keep all discussions civil, please. "Flame War" participants, regardless of "who started it", will be dealt with severely. There is no need to insult anyone so please treat others as you wish to be treated.
- If asked to stop a certain discussion and it continues, then matters may be taken further if needed.
#5: OFF-TOPIC THREADS:
- Off topic discussions will be tolerated to a small degree, but when instructed to end a thread, you MUST cease and desist. Taking it to e-mail is the best solution.
#6: HATE MESSAGES:
- Racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-religious, creator bashing, or any other types of hate messages or sentiments will not be tolerated.
#7: BANNINGS:
- The Moderators reserves the privilege of banning offenders from the boards, temporarily or permanently, without warning. You may be warned or you may not, at the Moderators' discretion.
- Bannings and lesser disciplinary actions should not be discussed on the boards. Those are matters best left to email between the poster and the Moderator.
- If one has a question about their banning they should e-mail the Moderators for explanations (a form for contacting the Moderators is located where new messages begin on each board).
- If you believe one of the Moderators is not treating you fairly, the Managers of ComicBoards.com can be contacted for their input.
#8: NO HOT-LINKING:
- Hot-linking means to take somebody's image and to link directly to it, thus using that site's bandwidth. This is often done in regards to upcoming solicitations posted on various comic book news sites.
- Many sites frown down on hot-linking, as do we, as it's stealing bandwidth, and that costs money. Likewise, we do not allow you to upload images here and to link to images here from your website.
- Any posts found hot-linking from other websites will be deleted upon sight. Any posters attempting to hot-link from ComicBoards.com will be banned.
#9: SPOILERS:
- Please use "Spoilers" within your subject line when applicable. Any recent issues released warrant the use of the "Spoilers" in the subject line or use of the Spoiler Tag Line (it is the little box to the right of the subject line when posting a message).
#10: POSTING ETIQUETTE:
- Please do not use "NT" or "No Text" in your subject line and then post a message within pertaining to the subject.
- There are no "hidden messages" within a message using "NT" or "No Text" please. Signatures are one thing, but "hidden messages" is another. Abusers will have their posts deleted.
#11: REQUESTING SPOILERS FROM CREATORS:
- Please do not ask creators for upcoming spoilers. Chances are you are not going to get anything other than "Wait and see" from them.
#12: MISSING MESSAGES:
- Please do not post asking where a message has gone. Chances are it has been deleted because it broke one of the rules.
- When a post is deleted, then all responses are deleted along with it. That means if you reply to a message that is deletable, then yours will be deleted along with the message you replied to.
- If you have any questions, please e-mail the Moderators (glguardian) and Lighting Strike concerning your message. Any message asking "Where did my message go" or simular will be deleted.
#13: DELETED MESSAGES:
- Please do not try to bring up discussions on deleted messages or post messages like "Hurry and read this before it is deleted". All this does is cause more trouble and will result in the message getting deleted and a possible bannings.
- Messages that are deleted are deleted because they broke one of the rules above. Not because they are based on an opinion, involve a disagreement, or particular debate.
- Opinions, disagreements, and debates are always welcome. Those that can not stay within the rules are not and will be deleted.
