History: The Maggia is an international crime syndicate that is the world's most powerful organization dedicated to conventional crime. Originating in southern Europe, the Maggia spread through non-communistic Europe and the Americans. Its presence in the United States first came to public attention in the 1890s. The Maggia is not a monolithic organization but is a coalition of many virtually independant groups known as "families". Several Maggia "families" are based in New York City. Three of the families have come tp pre-eminence. The Silvermane Family conducts its activities along traditional Maggia lines, dealing in narkotics.
