Unstoppable Wasp 008 (2017)
This was the series finale?! What a shame! Just when the book was getting not good but excellent! Last ish was possibly the best comic of last week and, yep, this ish was just as good! Who da thunk it? And as far as finales go this did an excellent job at closing series plotlines and opening interesting doors for future stories. Sure, there's an overdose of estrogen but good characterization and story development is still good reading. Once again, almost every flippin' page had something to enjoy. The spot-on Janet Van Dyne 20-page narrative was perfect for 2 issues in a row too. And so much agreeable stuff happens to Nadia that it's hard to believe it was all in one chapter. HUMOR! Easter Eggs! Nostalgia! Done-in-one! Happy ending! Absolutely a consecutive -and final- recommendation to read this latest issue Unstoppable!
It's too bad no mention of Jarvis (on the cover?) or Unity Squad or mention of Avengers existing teleport tech were included. But on the plus side...
Revisiting Poundcakes and Letha was done with kindness.
Pym Labs, Cresskill, NJ. is established as key MU locale.
Matt Murdock guest stars and gets Nadia citizenship.
Heartwarming moment seeing video of Nadia's mom along with her dad who were shown clearly in love.
All the members of G.I.R.L., EACH, really shone with their likable personalities and seriously special individual moments - especially Ying.
Jan's wealth was done right.
Sharing Jan's codename is not enough, she has to share her name! (Not a slight! A tender moment!)
"That time Hank bitch slapped Jan" was intently handled fairly and maturely by Jan and Nadia.
Mockingbird has a new home (and it should be more convenient if Peter Parker decides to go steady with her).
Everything Nadia said and did was endearing character development.
Everything Jan said and did was amazing (and astonishing) up to and including her perfect closing line.
Plus on the plus side were the little things...
Fun cover - probably happens the day after this issue ends.
The tally of genuinely good girl on girl hugs was 10 for 10.
"They're my bodyguards". Heh
Supervillains actually shown getting out of prison.
Janos Trovaya namedrop.
Hank and Maria fun banter.
"The Fly" movie reference. Clever.
The girls happily reuniting.
Jan's charm and generosity.
Feel good Gala and dancing.
Millie the Model namedrop.
"The Avengers are all about saving lives, but they rarely stick around to make lives better."
