What to say about this one. I guess it would be that it has a lot of good ideas that make it work better on paper than in its execution.
I like the idea that Bruce is awkward introducing Selina to the Kent’s. I like that Lois and Selina are unimpressed by Clark’s disguise. But to quote Chris Sims that is not a thread you want to pull on.
I like the idea of a double date. That is the idea of a date. My problems were with the execution.
This is still a comic book. The plot is that Bats and Supes were working a case from opposite ends. Meanwhile Lois and Selina say call your friend. Bats and Supes basically say they are opposites and the virtues the others have. Are the other the better man.
My problem is that the plot could have done without the villain at all. It could have been done with both parties sitting at different coffee tables. Why show how Bats’ abs Suoes’ Methods differ and how they complement each other.
Why not give an exciting battle along with exposure of their insecurities ?
Also the art. I liked the newsroom and Lois’ work station. It looks like the newsrooms I have been in. I will say that Lois is the best dressed reporter ever, so points off for that.
I have mixed feelings about the way Cats was drawn. I get they were going for her being cat like, but a couple of times she was drawn a little too sexualized for my taste.
Like I said, good ideas, but too sterile. Remember action is not a sin.
Or I could be wrong.
