Captain America 700
> CAP IS FINALLY "OUT OF TIME"! Frozen in time, awakened in a decimated future and once again a man out of his era, there is only one way for Steve Rogers to restore order and rebuild civilization—and that's to rule it as King Captain America! No dream, no hoax, no lie, this IS Cap and this IS happening, believe it or not! PLUS: Mark Waid delivers an untold tale from Captain America's past, featuring the classic artwork of Jack Kirby!

Where CAPTAIN AMERICA #700 Goes Wrong

However, the colossal fault of CAPTAIN AMERICA #700 is its ending. Let’s just say that basically everything that has happened in the last three issues is retconned. Everything. Including all of that great development I just mentioned, plus whatever I missed in this review. How? Well, you’ll have to read to figure that out.

It’s extremely unfortunate. The arc wasn’t the best material Captain America has ever gotten, but it was definitely fun. It was creative and unique, especially for a character like Captain America. And, with the milestone of CAPTAIN AMERICA #700 came a lot of great moments for the character. It’s a shame that, in the end, it was all basically for nothing.

However, that’s not to say this milestone fails. Yes, the ending drops the ball for the “Out of Time” arc as a whole, but it’s still a great culmination of the character of Captain America. So, yeah, not a total failure, I guess.

Yeah, this BIG Anniversary SPECIAL issue 'went wrong' as that review explains. Guess that Americans will nver get to compare a year of reign with King Cap to President Stevil now that no one will remember the former. ;\) Thing and Hulk were much more entertaining on the cover than Thing and Banner inside. Even Liang got shortchanged, especially given she was the only other character of significance and she never even got a courteous hello from Steve in that last panel present. Here is the link to the rest of that THOROUGH review and it's very generous -OVERLY generous- rating:

BACKUP STORY: "The Gantlet"

Is "GANTLET" allowed in Scrabble??

When would you guess this tale fits in ToS chronology?

Did you like it more or less than the Backup Story to this month's Xmen Blue Anniversary Issue?

Have we seen that tiny Stark-manufactured android brain for LMD's before. Cap saved it but is it the entire CPU design for all LMD's - or was it a newly designed virus protection unit to deploy in the LMD's infected? So, before the LMD were all networked and after this they are internally self-sufficient?
