Rocket Raccoon and Groot 8
This issue was so much fun! Gwenpool equally deserves as much credit as Rocket for that (as does the sappy space-shmuck Chammy for that matter)!
Check out and check off the flarkin' fun...
The deliciously groanworthy bad southern pun story title.
Clever mandatory tie-in to Civil War with appropriate (ie. all-out, Blah-Blah) mockery to it.
The selected heroes for a group shot cameo.
The hilarious sidebar conversation Rocket has with Adam.
Baby power priority.
Carol KNOWS Rocket has ulterior motives.
Flying Coach. Robbery plot set-up start for readers. Rabbi's 2 lines about Rocket's "muscle memory" and "powder power".
Enter: Gwen Poole and her subsequent self-intro to readers.
Overall the art was hit and miss but the image of Gwen sliding her bike into the station wagon was awesome.
Gwen and Squirre..err.. Rocket's meet and greet.
Gwen and Groot's tree-on-woman-violenc..err.. meet and greet.
Minor characters Ruth and Gus and ALL their interactions with Chammy.
Rocket yoinking Gwen's move for his report.
Groot fishing and with the sword still stuck.
Trashing the trope about feigning radio communication breaking up.
Feeding the cliche about everyone knowing everyone in a stereotyped community.
The return of Gwenpool for a second pawning by her and it leads to another awesome drawn panel with Rocket riding Gwenpool while Groot is driving.
The return to that "wedded bliss" and "space skyping" for it all to flip on a dime and the seriousness of this whole bounty hunting suddenly gets real. Poor Gus.
Enter: Reeve and evocatively evil ending for readers that should have them counting the next 30 days in anticipation.
It was fine for the 'gag' but Ultimates, SHIELD, Triskelion, Superheroes should have teleporters or personal supertransport for priority missions instead of plane tickets.
It was fine for a clever novel detterrent but Gwen actually killing those sweet innocent birds makes her, sadly, so NOT NOT NOT ethically ambiguous (as would be ideal for her character).
It was fine for keeping the fine pacing but they really should identify the (introduced?) alien races, ASAP, of Gus and those of the CWII Invasion happening concurrently.
