Deadpool 033 (2017)
Things have gotten messy for Deadpool. He's regrettably questioning all his choices since Steve Rogers made him a part of his world of Avengers. He's also realizing if he's going to be a good father he's going to be even more slyly rebellious than he has been so far to save his daughter from HYDRA.
Things have gotten messy for Ellie. She's bullying her peers. stealing for fun. Getting expelled. Being denied info on her mother. Finding herself secured in some safehouse by her dad for who knows how long.
Things have gotten messy for Preston. Telling flashback scenes show how her family security was tossed upside down on the day of the HYDRA takeover. Then she saw evidence that DP assassinated Coulson and stuck back at the merc with a mouth - her fate unrevealed.
Things have gotten messy for the Chandlers... who? Yep, 3-D man has now been coralled by Deadpool and dumped at HYDRA's feet for forced indoctrination. He doesn't have a chance.
Things have gotten messy for Trapster. He's probably been laying low but at the end DP makes him an offer to team-up that he can't refurse. What that is, we don't know because the cliffhanger was wanting.
That all makes for a fine mess, drama-wise. However...
The cover is cleverly fun but the inside art was not that pleasing - maybe servicable at best. And while the black & red flashback coloring was a smart detail distinction to include there were TEN PAGES of flashbacks so the flat two tones got tiring. Plus, so much 'after-the-fact' exposition was mostly anti-climatic. And just adding more timeframe jumping to an saga that is already overly saturated with the method just makes more messy, messy storytelling the Secret Empire Event.
