Of course we've seen it before and when his face got fixed (For good?), but have we ever seen his full face after the mask Burn? Everyone says that it's supposed to be horrific, but have we ever actually seen It? I heard that there was an older issue of Namor that showed us. If so, which one, and can anyone provide a Scan? Thanks.

There was no mask burn. The damage was done by the explosion. You're confusing the scenes where Kristoff gets subjected to the Remembrancer.

If you look back at the Lee/Kirby origin, the monk is handling the mask with his bare hands. And immediately after, Doom is speaking without exhibiting any reaction.

In Secret Wars #3 (2015), he does take off his mask

But wasn't John Byrne's story the opposite? I remember him saying that the explosion just caused a little scar, but Victor was so upset over being "disfigured" that he later put his mask on when it was still hot, which caused the major damage.

Yeah, then he runs screaming outside and plunges his face in the snow.

Byrne did that to reconcile what Kirby was beginning to talk about at the early comic conventions.

In a scene that Jack Kirby drew in Fantastic Four #10 Doom stops by the Marvel Bullpen to visit Stan and Jack. While there, he takes off his mask and both of them are horrified. Stan later has a Thor story where Don Blake sees him without the mask after claiming to have a plastic surgery "fix". Don Blake practicallyscreams at the sight.

Jack Kirby later during convention appearances said he felt that Doom only had a tiny scar. Byrne's story tries to combine both ideas. But these were the memories implanted in Kristoff by the Doombots.

Dr Don Blake sure isn't very professional if that true or he was trolling Doom.

Imagine if he had a runny nose.

Yeah, I mean it could account for him wearing the mask a lot. ;\-\)

Another thing is that Marvel doesn't expect the current readership to have a long memory or to have read anything written in the previous century.

There's this from the Doom mini series when he was marooned on Franklin's planet which he preferred to call Planet Doom. It was run by a reality engine that was looked after by a Franklin avatar. There is no mistake about his face from the profile.

I think one thing that might account for all these different artists' peeks at his unmasked face is that it might be a sort of curse put on him by Mephisto in order to play with his sanity. Some of seen him and not had as extreme a reaction as Don Blake. Sue for one in the Liddleville story. Or the artist that is doing his portrait in FF #87.

I don't think we are supposed to know what Doom's face really looks like because nothing would do it justice. Even the recent Secret Wars reveal wasn't a full unhooded view. That said, there have been at least a couple of occasions where an artist has come close.

Doom 2099 #25 showed a future Doom that looked suitably deformed after returning from an undefined battle that hosed his armor

FF v3 #31 showed Doom mostly unmasked/scarred when he reclaimed his armor from Reed Richards.

He "sort of" unmasked to a reporter in the Books of Doom limited series. I believe that was eventually revealed to be a Doombot, and the reporter was killed (since no one could look upon Doom and live).

And a lean, silent figure slowly fades into the gathering darkness, aware at last that in this world, with great power there must also come -- great responsibility!
