It's crazy: All this time and no satisfying appearance of Ulana or her child. Or -more curiously- no exposition on The Unseen. Heck, why doesn't Aron just come back to snoop around and fill the Watcher's absence? His death in #400 doesn't have to stick for Universe-8-*koff*, does it?

YES!!!

I fondly remember Aron. I think one of the first comics I ever bought involved the Fantastic Four (and Sharon) meeting the Frightful Four and Aron.

I've always thought of him as Uatu's wayward nephew but I can't seem to track down the reference that he IS Uatu's nephew. Was I wrong about them being related?

I always thought Aron as the Watcher who just said f*ck it when it comes to his oath of non-interference was always more interesting than Uatu who was inconsistent with his oath. In a way I've always thought Aron was morally right in his argument with Uatu even though he was a super villain. Aron wants the freedom to do as he pleases and Uatu and the rest are a bunch of repressed creeps who stifle independent thought or the pursuit of a personal agenda. Aron kept it real IMO.

There is a panel in the first page of the original post where he mentions his uncle. I believe his introduction where Uatu said he was his nephew was quite a bit earlier in Englehart's run... Perhaps the annual where Crystal left? Going off of memory here so not quite sure.

I didn't read the panel before I responded...but I do think that was the first mention of him being Uatu's nephew (outside of a handbook entry). I've been going through Aron's early appearances and them being related is not mentioned (and Aron being Ikor's grandson would be relevant to the storyline where he was introduced in Captain Marvel as Ikor's mistake is revealed as the reason the Watchers have the oath in the first place)

Yes, you are right. I went back and skimmed those issues on the DVD, and Aron's first appearance was Annual 21, but no mention of any relatives until the panel in the original post. Up until that point, he talked about Uatu and the other watchers like they were just other members of his species, not relatives.
