Back on July 14th, Jack Kirby's son Neal Kirby accepted the Disne y Legeends award for his father. Here's a link to the event

I'm kind of wondering if Kirby would even want his name associated with Disney. I'm sure back in even his day Disney was aggressive and stingy. For several years Disney did not credit the artists and writers of their Disney related comics at all.

For example readers of Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge for years did not know that the guy who was making the better stories was a guy called Carl Barks...they only knew him as "The Duck Man".

Disney giving an honor to a comic book writer seems kind of laughable. Kirby is a great artist but Disney has a shady history.

I think the more you read about that era, the more you respect what Stan started to do and that was to give each comic full credits. I don't think many comic books put any kind of credit in them until then

Another case in point: Batman and just how much credit does Bob Kane deserve over Bill Finger. Or how Jack Kirby lost his case against National Periodicals (now called DC) over syndication for Sky Masters and then got blackballed.
