Sad to hear of this. He was a good guy, and did an interview for me: http://www.fantasticfourheadquarters.co.uk/blog/len-wein-interview

Very sad. My condolences to his family and friends. He was a very good writer. His Swamp Thing with Wrightson was legendary. I enjoyed his brief FF run with Perez. RIP

My condolences to his friends & family. He must have been well-liked and respected in the industry. I don't think I've ever read a bad opinion about him. I think he also did some of those Marvel paperback books they used to years ago. I do recall reading that he lost some of the original pages of Wolverine's debut in a fire at his home. Those were probably worth a small fortune. He also had the cover for Giant-Sized X-Men #1 News of fire was posted by his friend, noted writer Harlan Ellison: http://www.comicmix.com/2009/04/07/len-wein-house-fire/

Too young. Thank you, Len. Your work was among the first that lured me into comics and your dedication to the medium improved it for the ages.
