Nick Who?

Oh wait, I think I know who you mean, but he's gone, man. He's even more gone than Uncle Ben or Mar-Vell. Like I think we could be sentenced to some Disney World jail for even mentioning his name.

Reed doesn't know that guy. Except maybe in some parallel universe where Steve Rogers was thawed out in the 60s. (Don't get me wrong, our Reed can probably see that universe by gazing through a framistat.)

Not sure how canon Marvel Knights stuff is but I think they now have Nathaniel's and (and Uncle Ted's?) father John Richards as the guy who served in WW2.

(edit) about Howard Stark...I thought there was a retcon somewhere that Howard Stark was Howard Stark Jr. and Howard Stark Sr. was in WW2. But ever since the Agent Carter MCU stuff I guess that's not true.

It is uncertain but since it was revealed that they were field agents of the Brotherhood of the Shield, I think that Nathaniel & Howard were behind the creation of S.H.I.E.L.D. instead of Tony Stark.

During the Silver Age, it was Tony who was one of the masterminds of S.H.I.E.L.D (he was among the people who recruited Nick Fury to become the first leader of the agency).

Clearly, it was softly retconned and is no longer true since "old" Nick Fury seems to have been the head of SHIELD a long time before Tony ever became Iron Man.
