Barry is convinced Devoe is the Thinker and his wife is the Mechanic.

We get his origin in this episode.

Okay, anyone else get a Darth Vader/Empire Strikes Back vibe when he suited up and got back into his life support chair?

This episode was a little better but I'm still not feeling this guy as the big bad. I hope someone else turns out to be the big bad later on.

No. I just kept thinking I wish I was watching Metron instead.

And then I started wondering if there is some fiendish wheel chair salesman who makes a fortune weaponizing wheelchairs for gods and super villains.

I think this episode leans toward IM #7's post on Saturday. DeVoe did not seem nefarious the last time he spoke with Barry. I got the feeling that he was steering Barry along a certain path but not necessarily toward his (Barry's) doom.

I do like how DeVoe is toying with Barry's mind . . .

To me it seems like he's preparing Barry for a bigger battle down the road with someone else. Like maybe their is something out there in the multiverse that hasn't been beaten yet and Thinker's nudging Barry down the only path he thinks victory can be achieved and if it screws up Barry's life that's a small price to pay.

I guess what I'm saying is the Thinker is acting a lot like the Monitor \:\)

Perhaps the Thinker knows that a.....Crisis.....is coming and is preparing Barry?

Again with Metron. First, the Thinker looks nothing like Metron. Second, Metron is not a Flash villain. Third, Metron is more of an observer of events rather than someone who takes direct action.

It's interesting that a hero/villain performs one amazing feat, or use a power they haven't used for 20+ years, and that automatically propels them to a high status despite scans and evidence to the contrary. I don't know what is worse, selective feat picking that has only been done once or twice 20, or more, years ago or ignoring evidence from scans or the lack thereof. We need to stop putting our favorite heroes/villains on pedestals and start putting them where they really belong. But it's evident that people never will because they would rather accuse others of cherry picking feats, when they don't, and being 'morally superior' when they aren't. I guess being honest and as fair as possible only opens one up to being the target of childish accusations and fault finding by those who insist on acting petty and childish. What happened to a good debate between two civil, mature, adults?

so he becomes the smartest guy on earth. instead of finding a cure for his illness or getting rich through semi-legal means...he decides to mess with the Flash.

Well, he did state his brain draws great amounts of energy from his body, hence the ALS, and the chair likely provides life support energy for him.

It is possible that the only "cure" for him is to revert his brain to how it used to be.

As to why he is attacking Barry.....unless I missed some pivotal dialogue, which is possible given my overall feelings of late, I do not know why he is doing this.

He has the intellect to basically solve Earth's assorted problems, clean energy, "climate change", terrorism, etc. Yet he isn't doing that.

Maybe the Thinker wants the Flash's body. That way, he has all the energy his mind could possibly need.

Hm, the Speed Force powering the Thinker...not a pleasant thought.

Of course he could go after Wally as well if that were the case.
