Old Man Logan 026 (2017)
This installment ended up as just a forced alt-invasion crisis just to splash gratuitous slaughter in the readers' face. The take-over-the-world plot is extremely simple and it seems like a writer's exercise to try'n and top the ghoulish, cruel, "slaughter-tude" of PAD's original Maestro (and Millar's Hulk Gang) for sensationalistic sales sake. That armored tank thread ground(beefing) OML into the ground is certainly a memborable image to share - and obviously SURVIVE - but, c'mon! Add some machine gun splatter to put the nail in the coffin - that'll be empty anyways? Well, Marvel did what they set out, here, Maestro is as ugly as ever as an antagonist - even uglier because he comes back so often to bring the same ruthless bloodfests on-panel M.O. Visually, speaking the Hulk imagery is powerful and gorgeous as one might expect from Mr. Deodato's reliable signature pencils.
We also get another annoying umpteenth flashback sequence of OML's alt-past timeline to try to endear readers with his dystopian motivation for being/staying in this Marvel Now universe. Still not interesting character gimmick, IMO.
We also get a random lady-hulk that seems to be a candidate to turn on Maestro, maybe, for some reason, at some point. She is hardly even noteworthy, ATM.
We also get a trope decision of OML to not pull in any help to go up against an ARMY OF HULKS! He's made numerous dumb choices in the scattering of issues read from this run (nb. did NOT read last 3 issues). Sigh. At least, there is the AFSS Puck cameo (along with more ambiguous connection to CANADIAN Alpha Flight status), FYI.
