Spider-Man 021 (2017)

Black man in Tokyo part 2

    Quote:
Really liked this issue to be honest. Hope you guys will enjoy it too.

Me, not as much. Granted it was an impressive win that makes the Spidey/WarMachine/IronMan team-up fail against Tomoe embarrassing.

    Quote:
I still can't get over how this cover and the one from the last issue (as well as their solicits) have NOTHING to do with the content of the books. It's like originally Bendis was gonna do a "Miles is arrested" story but at the last minute changed his mind, instructed a generic cover for the next issue while he thought of a different story and then came up with this Tokyo story.

RIDICULOUS cover choice. (Even though he does namedrop The Champions in passing.)

Flashback to a earlier time for Miles....

    Quote:
    Hey, it's Miles's dead uncle!

More 1610 history established as 616 history? Now, in light of the Spider-mEn mini storyline with the native Miles? Hmmph.

    Quote:
Well at least his writing is a quick read so you don't waste much time.

    Quote:
    That cover looks really good
    Who did that?

    Quote:
Come to think of it, why did I run away to Japan of all places? It makes no sense, I'm not a weeabo, I don't even speak Japanese.

Who knows why?!

    Quote:
I don't know him, but cover seems to be signed by Dan Brown. Full name Daniel Brown. Looks like he worked for Darkhorse once upon a time.

    Quote:
This is all really contrived so that Bendis can use his OC villain from Iron Man again.

    Quote:
    Spider-sense! Benis remembered!

    Quote:
Man, Miles' dad would be such a better Spider-Man. And dynamic with Peter would be way more fun.

His dad was wise here.

    Quote:
    A den of ninjas.....kek.

    Quote:
Why is there a Chinese person (Zhang) at a Japanese Yakuza base?

Heh.

    Quote:
    Flashback #2......
    ....and Jackie Chan.

Props to Chan. Props to how easy it is to emulate Bullseye and Finesse?!

    Quote:
    >He makes his own choices where to run away
Yeah, he chose to go to Japan for no &^%$ing reason, but what does that have to do with giving him a sniper rifle?

    Quote:
Why did Techno Golem want to form a partnership with a random American with superpowers he randomly found on the street?

    Quote:
No black kid says “big whoop”. Plenty of old Jewish men do though. Such is the pen of Bendis.

And Mr.Gischler this week in Spirits of Vengeance (2017-) #1 ;\)

Uncle Aaron was cool. Hope they'll bring him back one day.

Nah.

    Quote:

    >Jackie Chan.
Sound advice only if you have superpowers, otherwise it's just BS. If you're surrounded by 50 guys with swords no amount of kung fu will save you.

    Quote:

    >cover
Its Patrick Brown, sorry. Reading those signatures are sometimes a living nightmare.

    Quote:
THAT SUPER MOVE THAT DOESN'T HAVE A NAME!!!

What does Superman call his same move?

    Quote:
That look on Tomoe's face saying: "God, I want sex with him!" before passing out....

    Quote:
I laughed harder then I should at this page with Ganke swinging sword...

    Quote:
    >SUPER MOVE
How did this guy job to &^%$ing Hammerhead?

    Quote:
    CABLE!
    WHAT A TWIST!!!
    A stupid one, but still...

It was a pretty intriguing surprise last page appearance.

    Quote:
    >That SHIELD no longer being a thing is maybe a big blessing
How...? And why the hell does Nate think that Miles of all people would make a good spy or would be willing to use a sniper rifle?

    Quote:
    >running away to Japan
I'm pretty sure that he was travelling all over the place and his recent path just took him to Japan, and what's wrong with going to Japan?

Sounds wrong.

    Quote:
    >SUPER MOVE
It seems to be an AOE version of his venom blast. Bullcrap, but at least where it came from is apparent.

    Quote:
Last page: Sinister Six next. Guess they drop the whole Hammerhead plot they were hyping with.

And let hope they gave a good reasonable excuse for Bombshell turning heel besides "Miles doesn't love me!!!"

    Thks for reading as always.

    Quote:
    >SUPER MOVE
    What is this, an anime?

    Quote:
    >anime
At least in Anime power-ups exist because villains keep getting stronger and stronger so the hero has to catch up. Here, he just has them because Bendis is lazy.

    Quote:
Yeah, why would he think the kid who can scale anything, capture anyone over distance, knock out people with one move, sense incoming danger and TURN &^%$ING INVISIBLE would make for a good spy? Silly comics.

Heh.

    Quote:
How much do you wanna bet that the 616 Miles Morales from Spider-Men is the New Iron Spider?

Huh??

    Quote:
"im told you're yummy" would have been a nice ice breaker

    Quote:
    >Iron Spider
Yeah it’s pretty much guaranteed now.

    Quote:
    Miles needs a new writer

    Quote:
I've missed the last few weeks, is SHIELD not existing due to Cap being HYDRA?

Yup. They should have said so in-story IN THIS TITLE.

    Quote:
    >Iron Spider
What if it's Ock? Cause.. I have no idea.

    Quote:
Kind of dumb but still a pretty enjoyable issue, maybe the best of this Miles run.

    Quote:
    The flashback is in Ultimate

Verbatim?

    Quote:
Power levels have always been completely out of whack with Bendis. He seems to like the whole "can take down super-powerful enemies but jobs to street level villains" schtick which is why Hammerhead is somehow the one guy that can relatively consistently beat Miles despite Miles being able to take out dudes like Blackheart and Ultimate Doom.

    Quote:
Likewise, if Captain Hydra didn't use the cosmic cube fragment to change reality then Miles would have killed him, which likely would have led to him becoming the new Black Widow since that both makes more sense for Miles and was being set-up in Secret Empire until presumably, Captain Hydra's cosmic cube shenanigans changed the timeline.

If you say so.

    Quote:
    >Black Widow
But boy black widows are weaker than girl ones.

    Quote:
Miles skipped the chance of having some yakuza booty to bust the party.

    Quote:
There is some things wrong with this arc.
    1. Why didn't bendis just make the villain give a invite to miles?
    2. Why did he end it so quick?
    3. What is the lesson of the arc? Go to japan and bang a Japanese inhuman?

    Quote:
    > Why did he end it so quick?
Legacy demands new arcs for new readers.

    Quote:
Bendis created Tomoe. She's fought Tony, Riri, and now Miles. So depending on what Bendis does next with her, she could very easily become a recurring villain in Miles book.

I mean Tomoe does seem to have a thing for Miles. So I don't think this is the last time Miles is going to see her.

It was interesting to see her officially get a criminal record attached to her now. It will be interesting to see her align/oppose some big name supervillains not to mention The Inhumans!
