Old time Spidey fan here, wondering about people's thoughts on Spectacular Spidey title that is being published.

Is it s good read, decent, tolerable, dreck? Tell me why it is awesome or why I should avoid it.

Always interested in a solid read, featuring my favorite comic character..... but I have been burned many times and haven't picked this one up.

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Ned

The first five issues or so are pretty entertaining, funny and fun, but I was concerned that Chip Zdarsky's Spider-Man would be too purely comical--too much the jester/screw-up model of Dan Slott--to be engaging long-term. But the last couple issues have shown that Zdarksy is capable of more dramatic moments as well, and in the process revealed that he actually has quite a good handle on the character.

So I recommend it. For the first time in many years, we have a core ongoing Spider-Man title that features a recognizable Peter Parker.
