Okay so I saw some Thor art from Marvel artist Jim Cheung on Bleeding Cool. looked okay, I guess we have all seen the gold arm/gold hammer pic by now and this looked like a pencil of something similar.

BUT...

...reading some of the comments and someone posted the following (and I'm hoping this is just someone trolling, but here goes anyway):

    Quote:
    Thor! Yay!
I am pretty he convinced will be bonded with Jane as his mortal identity after this arc.

I have heard she is going to basically become the hammer (with word bubbles and all) and he wields it. Basically a Firestorm like situation.

Dr. Strange bonds her soul to the hammer and the hammer to Thor as his power source after Mangog damages the hammer and "kills" Tempest.

Thor transfers his powers to create the hammer to house Jane's soul in the fates amber liquid (why the new hammer is gold). When Thor is summoned, she becomes the hammer and he is basically summoned by her.

This gives everyone a little of what they want but Jane still the powerhouse so they hopefully stave off flake negativity of a male taking his role back. (I Heard this from a writer after a "few" and thought it was head cannon but it really does start to make sense and is feasible).

Again, this could all be nonsense BUT lets go over some of the 'highlights' of this potential nightmare scenario.

1. Thor and Jane become 'bonded'
2. Jane 'becomes' Mjolnir
3. Dr Strange rebuilds this hammer, I guess Odin was all "just let her die for goodness sake".
4. Thor transfers 'his' power into the new hammer
5. This is done to appease Jane fans and any negativity of having a male Thor.

Not sure what the rest of you think but the thought of this disturbs me. Seems like the divorce could be worse than the marriage and Thor ain't getting rid of his spiteful ex-girlfriend (who took his name and his stuff) anytime soon, in fact she's literally his strength now.

Discuss.

Hey Upper_Krust,

That is such a laughably bad concept that I can't imagine anyone actually pitching that with a straight face. And that has nothing to do with my dislike of Jane-as-Thor. Putting anyone inside Mjolnir (if it will even be Mjolnir any more) turns it into the magical singing sword. If they did the same thing with BRB, or Eric Masterson, or even Thor himself for another wielder, it would be off the mark. If the powers-that-be are hellbent on someone's sentience being inside Mjolnir, it should be a sentient sliver of the Odinforce (similar to Odin's Eye). But of course, they can't have that...

Even if this does come to pass (because I guess nothing from Marvel could surprise me these days), hopefully it will just be forgotten by the next writer, and Mjolnir will just be treated like Mjolnir again.

A) Dr.Strange should not or never have had the power to rebuild the hammer in any capacity. Loki's magic always was and should be more powerful than Strange and he shouldn't be able to reforge Mjolnir in any way.

B) Which brings me to this point. Mjolnir is a sky-father weapon and Odin created this weapon, therefore he should be the only one who can do any tinkering/modifications to it. The Jane bust-clone saga needs to come to an end period.

C) I hope once all this is over we don't have another writer giving the power of Thor to anyone EVER AGAIN. All it's done is cheapen, weaken and now has broken Thor's uniqueness over the years. The only thing that was accomplished is making everyone in question/eligible to pick up the hammer.

D) I'm so glad Ragnarok asked if he is a god of hammers to stop this nonsense of Aaron and future writers defining him with dependency on Mjolnir that all the cheap Thor clones have ever have demonstrated. They are defined by the their hammers and none of them are gods by birthright.

If true, it looks like Marvel wants to continue to alienate the long time fans and continue to lose money on the books.

DC is looking better and better by the day.

I must have still been in shock from the rumour itself and failed to grasp one of the nuances...in fact I'm editing this post because I spotted another thing:

The following bit seems scarily bad:

    Quote:
Thor transfers his powers to create the hammer to house Jane's soul in the fates amber liquid (why the new hammer is gold). When Thor is summoned, she becomes the hammer and he is basically summoned by her.

When Thor is summoned

She becomes the hammer

He is basically summoned by her

...so

This sounds like:

1. Thor puts his power into the hammer to save Jane.
2. Jane becomes HIS mortal identity!!!
3. When Mortal Jane summons the power of Thor they switch places with Thor being summoned and Jane becoming (a talking) Mjolnir!!!!!!

Lol! Sex-swop Thor with ex-in tow.

Please let this be a hoax.

Thor would be officially dead to me as this isn't the same character I grew up with.

There wouldn't be any reason to read any future issues.

so much for Cebulski being our last hope to get get Marvel out of the dark times of the last three plus years.

It also proves that Marvel doesn't give a damn for the long time loyal fans that essentially gave them their jobs with OUR wallets.

He might say Thor has been one of Marvel's top sellers of the past few years and we don't want to lose the Jane fans when (the real) Thor gets back.

Lets just wait and see whether its true or not first.

My two stipulations for returning to Thor were/are:

1. No Jason Aaron on the title.
2. Jane gets killed off (or is in no way involved in the book).

But yet, with the fact that Thor was "removed" from his own book and we were not given a separate one for him as BD2999 has repeatedly mentioned to show what the readers actually wanted, that is a lopsided argument.

The first one is the more likely since the length of time he has had on the book to muck up the works and essentially make Thor unsalvageable.

Not really worthy analyzing a fan theory at this point. I doubt that they go this way honestly. Although the bonding with Mjolnir is possible in some respects, but on the other hand maybe not.

Until we have something more official it is fan speculation and not much more.
