Sooo I always go into a Thor book thinking something I like will come of it....no easy task at times.
I did like the cover....I paused on it much longer than I ever do, enjoying the thought of what it portended.
Thor stopping mjolnir from returning to Jane with his black fisted hand....it's supposed to be impossible to stop mjolnir from returning to "Thors" hand, so that's really one incredible feat that didn't get the due it deserved I thought. It did make me wonder for a second if it was trying to get to his hand.
BIG things: Odin is afraid to die? So his WIFE just died (presumably) as well as several warriors and the king of a warrior race is afraid to fight a foe that just killed her or at miniumum wounded her severely...a foe Heimdall ATTACKED aggressively and injured? What is it with Aaron and making Odin out to be a god of extremely dubious character?
Mangog BIT the Destroyers head off?! Now this is physical power on a level I've not seen before. I thought breaking the war hammer was impressive. He BIT and shredded a uru creation infused with Skyfather magic. Damn. I wouldn't have thought that possible by Celestials. It makes Heimdalls injuring him that much more impressive by my estimation. So Odin suddenly - post Ragnarok - after millenium of fighting awesome foes - including Mangog - is now afraid to die in battle? Can someone offer an explanation? Meanwhile Jane practically has to stop herself from grabbing mjolnir and racing to her death. Jeez -
Jane calling herself the best Thor the world has ever seen? She's been Thor for about 12 seconds in the lifespan of Thor...that's some serious ego IMO.
Cul sitting on the sidelines watching/narrating a battle. Isn't he pretty much Odin level in power? Yet he had no thoughts of cowardice or fear of death that Odin did. On 3rd look I see Cul did get a shot at Mangog...sort of.
Mjolnir lashing out at those in the room, apparently without guidance from a Thor? Seems that it being sentient is finally offical (it wasn't ever official to me but it is now)
Jane swearing them in as soldiers in the war of realms - Sheesh - Asgards been fighting those type battles for thousands of years...her statement was so arrogant - as if had she not done it they wouldn't have gotten in the fight.
Thor and Odin apparently about to die calling each other Old man and Boy.
Despite my gripes it was riveting if greatly disappointing as to how JA sees the relationships, characters, and abilities of the Asgardian heavyweights that have made these stories possible
