    Quote:
Yes this has always been so. Way back in X-Force #12 Gideon's narration bubble thingee says before he was an External he was a mutant. Every one of the Externals to my knowledge was a mutant and then they died, came back and discovered they were Externals/Immortals (fuzzy on En Sabah Nur...him getting altered by Celestial tech may mean he doesn't fit the pattern)

    Quote:
All Externals are mutants. Or were when the Externals subplot was originally playing out in the 90's.

    Quote:
I think you can make the argument that the Neo were an offshoot of humanity like the Deviants and the Eternals but the Externals are just a handful of mutants who are also immortal.

    Quote:
They're immortal but other than that...nothing special. They're not a separate race from mutants. There are like 10 of them. They're more like Highlanders where they just sort of discover as they get older that they are Externals as well as mutants but not like say the Eternals who have their own culture. Externals are just an additional mutation...no External is an External because their ancestors were.

Ah.

Hmm... Wonder if anyone has come across an (Official Marvel) online Human Race Species flowchart infographic, like those family tree ones?

So, how would subspecies or offshoot distinctions work for Romulus/Logan and their feral line. Does Tryp/Madrox still have their own genetic changeling line of distinction going on?

Neyaphem? Gene Nation? Are they 'offshoots' or just a grouping description?

SIDEBAR:What? Logan and James Hudson are closely related??

Is that what they were they called? I was also annoyed by the Madrox/Tryp thing and had planned to mention that but I couldn't remember the term they used.

Grouping I think. Although I always was waiting for another shoe to drop with the Neyaphem and Cheyarafim that there was something supernatural or alien or genetically engineered about them. But I don't think it ever happened and they were just "mutants that looked like demons" and "mutants that looked like angels".

And speaking of the Cheyarafim...maybe that's the explanation for why Sam was mistaken to be a high lord. We know Cable thought Sam was a high lord and Sam did die after being impaled by Sauron and came back.

Sam's brother Josh was implied to be a descendant of the Cheyarafim I think So if Josh is descended from the Cheyarafim then so is Sam. So maybe a subtle Cheyarafim mutation is why Sam was able to pull a Lazarus?

That whole killcrop thing was just bogus, imo. But even so, they would not be a group unto themselves. They're like the frayed strands that line the edges of the mutant tapestry. The whole idea of the killcrops was that they were meant to die, but somehow didn't.

Ferals, neyaphem, and cheyarafim (and whatever other groups) would just be tribes of mutants. You could probably include the Clan Akkaba as one of these tribes.

Yes, Logan's mom was a Hudson by birth.

So how is Wolverine related to Guardian from Alpha Flight again?

Logan's mother is the sister of James's grandfather or something? So like Guardian's dad is Logan's cousin I guess? So Logan and Jimmy are cousins once removed?

ugh. I didn't have a problem with the Origin series and the couple of half siblings Logan picked up from that but I hate the idea of Logan and James Hudson being related. They had a complicated friendship...they didn't need to be related (and barely related at that).

(and why in the world did they give Jimmy 2 half brothers? Back in Alpha Flight he had like zero family)

Yup. Logan/Mac are first cousins once removed.

Don't really like everybody being related either. And that Professor guy, who was running Weapon X, is Mac's half-brother, so it's all one big unhappy family.

And now you have to wonder did Guardian get his job at Alpha Flight because of that creepy half brother of his pulling some strings.

Don't know if it was him, in particular, but the whole Hudson clan were very connected and privileged.
