Quote:Immortus is Kang. Their real name is Nathaniel Richards. They're descended from Reed's father (also named Nathaniel Richards) via Reed's unnamed half-brother from Nathaniel's second wife Cassandra who is from an alternate earth.
I just ignore all these crazy convolutions. Why do writers waste time on such nonsense? How does making them the same person make Kang and Immortus more interesting? How does making them a descendant of Nathaniel Richards make them more interesting? Either Kang and Immortus are cool because of their villainy or else they're not cool, period. Family trees do not impart coolness. Being somebody's future or past self does not impart coolness. Show me their schemes and counter-schemes. That's all I care about. Their schemes and counter-schemes. And maybe, once in a blue moon, their romantic relationships, sick and horrifying though they might be.
It did make sense : Kang was supposed to be the equivalent of Doctor Doom for the Avengers and Immortus was a time sorcerer akin to Captain Britain's Merlyn.
