...nothing (well, almost nothing) but filler in Avengers #681.

That was mostly my reaction to Thor704, this week. At least here, we get clues, backstory, some definitely, albeit minimal, reactions from many more players than Thor and Odin's generic posturing, Hawkeye and Hulk surprise, and expanded Voyager origin.

I'm extremely bored and have zero excitement left in me except with regard to the upcoming Hulk appearance and the other event that happens toward the end of the issue.

All we got was more chasing after pyramoids. This kind of story worked in the Silver Age when it happened in a single issue or maybe, at most, two.

You do have a fair point, in that light, 'cuz past Grandmaster tourneys did happen in less pages and quicker exposition, iirc. Thank Hercules, NO SURRENDER isn't on monthly schedule, at least, for that reason.

Yeah, Glah-Ree (which I pronounce glah-REE) is interesting to read about. Yeah, Jan taking on both Blood Brothers was amusing and impressive.
\(yes\)

Rogue killed. I guess I'm supposed to be deeply moved by that. But I'm not. Rogue says it all: "Not gonna say ah'm sorry. Not after what happened to Johnny."

Still, a hero that bends/breaks their morals in times of duress or an Avengers that intentionally breaks the team's NO KILL creed should definitely... be considered/discussed in such scenarios - whether justified or not. Was it self-defense when other game options/strategies were not prepped.

Lightning fails once again to stop a pyramoid from being claimed. Pretty useless, this guy.

Facetime is better than no facetime. He did get in a shot where others didn't. He brings a variety to represent all the Reserves appearances we're denied so far... but yeah, he's been less than helpful so far.

Vector needs to recharge after every. Single. Teleport. Please stop this. The big drama of the comic is getting from point A to point B. What could possibly be more boring?

Word. And she's not even very good at it. ;\)

    Quote:
Vector's origin is pretty cool but told with all the emotional impact of a lost set of keys. (Less, actually. Far less. I get really upset when I lose my keys.) Being super made her interesting to her Dad. That's poignant. I just wish being super made Vector interesting to me.

No drama in losing keys if you can teleport. \:\)

Synapse pulls another ability out of thin air.

Hopefully my X-men pet peeve with their oft must-nick presentations of TP showings to the Avengers. Still liking Synapse - so far.

One good bit: Mentacle tries to force a Blood Brother to claim the pyramoid against his will! Very evil. I like it!
\(yes\)

And then - as so often happens - Hawkeye saves the day! And he has Red Wolf with him! Finally something cool may be about to happen!
\(yes\)

    Quote:
Oh, and yeah, yeah, here comes the Hulk. We've known it from the first tease.

Hmm...

The solicit for next issue is fun. The Injun has the pistols and the Paleface has the bow and arrows! Love it.
