And I found a much different character than the film. As a non-fan of the source material, I think having his sister play the more "fun" role was likely a good choice. However I'm wondering ...

My problem is that it made Shuri a great character but made T'Challa just some guy in a cat suit. In the Priest run T'Challa seemed as smart as Batman.

I liked the Black Panther movie. Most of the characters were done very well. T'Challa just wasn't one of them IMO.

M'Baku, Killmonger, Shuri, Ramonda, Oyoke, Nakia, Zuri were all pretty good characters. But T'Challa was just kinda there. I guess they didn't want to showcase his devious side and just focused on his heroic side...but the devious side is why he was so good in Priest's run. He wasn't the guy who just smiled in the back row of the Avengers photo anymore.

Being Wakanda's leading scientist, it would be totally logical that she is as smart as Tony Stark & Bruce Banner and, perhaps, potentially smarter.

I think we should have seen that T'Challa is as smart as Bruce and Tony. In the comics he's pretty much on their level or close to it.
