Definitely agree that minorities get the short end of the stick.

Hopefully there is a way for them to be raised up without knocking me (white guys) down.

I know. I feel like as white people we see that there are injustices but as individuals we don't want to sacrifice anything to make things equitable. We just want to pay our bills, feed our families and live in peace so racism isn't something we really care about in our day to day lives.

Like yes slavery is wrong and I'm not going to minimize it. But also don't ask me for reparations. I didn't start slavery and I'm not giving up my money or property to right the social wrongs in our society. I don't want to discriminate against anyone...I just want to pay my bills and not be bothered by social inequities.

Yeah, the sins of our fathers should not be enacted on us and all that.

All we can do is be aware of the inequalities and try to do things that help rather than hurt or exacerbate the inequalities.

And raise our kids right. I grew up going to school and being friends with kids of all races. My kid is 6 and doesn't understand race issues. Like on the playground, he just sees a kid his age and doesn't care if they are black, white, or Asian. And hopefully I can make sure he takes that into adulthood.
