Quote:I think Heike was just a bad character (sometimes there really are bad characters).
I like her first appearance (when she pretends that she is Heinrich in a woman's body) because it reminds me of the Ultra-Humanite and Gerry Conway may have given this origin to the character on purpose.
Still, her costume & haircut were absolutely awful. One of the worst I have ever seen.
Then, she comes back at Helmut's wife and it doesn't make any sense at all (why would she be nuts enough to make everyone thinks that she is Heinrich if she is actually Helmut's wife ?).
Actually, the story of the Zemo couple in Captain America #431 was bad.
Mark Gruenwald never cared as much about the Zemos as he cared about Red Skull being the archenemy of Captain America.
That's why this nonsensical story is better left forgotten.
Perhaps, both these Helmut & Heike were pretenders ?
When the true Helmut came back later in Thunderbolts, he quickly explained that his wife was dead in prison (off screen).
I have never found the portrayal of Helmut in Captain America #431 coherent with his other appearances, before and after the #431 issue.
IMO, Heike has still potential as a character if Captain America #431 is retconned as two pretenders playing at being the Zemo couple.
I know that her costume was awful in 'Spider-Man : Fear Itself' but, when she was first introduced, her background was still interesting (the leader of a terrorist cell in post-communist Eastern Europe).
... and Helmut himself started his career with an awful costume ...
Actually, her codename (The Baroness) also reminds me the much more famous Hasbro Baroness and, after Superior Spider-Man, I can imagine Heinrich back from the dead in a woman's body. It could be fun.
