Waid is probably in his 50s right now and if anyone gets Cap in the modern era, its him.

    Quote:
Personally, I like this twist on the whole "perception of Americans in the MU." This fits into our current political climate and can be a commentary on what it is like to be a person fighting for truth, in a cultural landscape that is wary or cynical about the truth.

    Quote:
And out of the ways Waid brought Captain America back, I think each of them have some sort of commentary on this phenomenon of being a "man out of time" and what people perceive vs. what is real. His first Cap run was about how others in government perceived Captain America as an outmoded concept in a time of international geopolitical upheavals. The second Cap run was all about people idolizing celebrity and iconography of America above being an American. This third one seems to be shaping up to be what it means to be Captain America when people are critical as to what it means to be an American.

    Quote:
I think that has some legs to it...moreso than Spenser's run.

I just don't like the timing. Spenser ruined Cap, made him a villain and didn't even the decency to retcon it away.

Now we have this new Cosmic Cube created thing as an ideal of Cap. Whether the real Cap was frozen is almost beside the point. Neither Stevil or NuCap are the real Steve.

It's just the wrong time for type of story. Fix Steve first and then knock him down again. Right now Steve's a pod person.
