Captain America 696 (2018)
OMG! That was... simple. Sigh. Maybe more simple than the relaunch/renumbering of last ish. Same one-and-done concept of last ish, too; small town, black & white problem, villain captured, problem solved, happy ending, moving on. While last issue was a refreshing change/break from the character abuse that Cap's gotten for years now - this felt EXACTLY the same. No real POV exposition of the foe - which was VERY DISAPPOINTING
in regards to the newly introduced SWORDSMAN successor. Nothing, NOTHING, on the mystery costumed recluse with a blade save he was a fun foil for fighting Cap for a sequence (with his unique sword). There's a lovely small town cast - which probably will warrant zero demand or need for a recurring appearance. A phone call with Sharon Carter (that we can't even read) - but effectively STILL no satisfying followup to Steve's S.E. aftermath status. A feel good pleasant adventure to read - yet not much to talk about after the penniless hero rides his bike into the sunset.
In spite of disappointing elements missing, this installment was still... likable. Maybe you loved it?

I hear your reaction echoed in a lot of places. Starting to think this'll be a wait for trade kind of book. Or it's just a bunch of safe coasting until they get to the refreeze story line.
