Quote:I am very glad Trump pardoned him.
Quote:I have respect for this reporter.
Quote:He's getting away without being punished.
He likely has done both good and bad.
He's old enough there is no point in wasting money on the trial.
Quote:Essentially the pardon just saves taxpayers some money imo. For all intents and purposes it acknowledges he made mistakes (hence pardon) and saves us tax payers time and money.
Quote:All while undermining the judicial branch. His conviction was on contempt of court. Meaning it is a bit of a different legal thing than the crime itself. He was also not sentenced yet.
The branches are always undermining each other. But honestly what real effect is there if he waits until after to do the same thing. The result is the same...less money is wasted.
The problem is likely in allowing the President this power in the first place. Trump cant wield it right and we had Obama letting traitor's go who got their fellow soldiers killed.
Quote:All this sends is that if you are a friend of Trump than you will get out of jail free for whatever you do.
If he does this again and again sure. This is one time so far though. Personally as I said above...this has always been a possibility. Be a friend of the president...have something incriminating on him...be a political tool that he can use to say hey look I like transgendered people and so on and so on. I don't thin a President should have this power without some mitigating check like 51% of the House agrees or something.
Quote:It is also good to know that so long as you do good and bad things the law should not really apply to you. I mean the guy bragged about his tent cities being like concentration camps. Seems like an upstanding guy.
He didn't brag about them...he was clearly commenting on what others accused him of. It's called sarcasm. If he abused his power he should be brought to task. If he was following the law and the tent camps were all he had funds for...well the issue of blame is actually above his head. It's not 100% clear he is this racist that many paint him to be. Most minority percentage of police force and so on...if the reports I heard were true.
