Al Franken has just announced his resignation from Congress due sexual misconduct. It's a pretty noticeable blow to the Democratic party, as a growing contingent was trying to prop Franken as a possible candidate for the 2020 election. This makes the second Democrat to resign his post for sexual misconduct in less than a week ... John Conyers resigned for similar reasons just a two days ago.

Do you think these resignations were made on moral grounds? Were they done to help stymie further criticism of the Democratic party? Or is it a strategic effort to cast the party in a more favorable light to Republicans, many of whom are coming out in support of Roy Moore despite the more heinous allegations he's facing?

I am not sure if Franken would have been a good presidential candidate or not. I liked him as a Senator though.

It is probably a mix. The Democratic base is not too pleased about it and that is some pressure. I imagine the Dems in congress range from the same moral place to a political choice. And everything in between.

That said, it is at least a more moral move than the GOP so far. Moore is likely to win. Meaning that they accept a guy that goes after underage girls or did at any rate. And is out having his surrogates claim he will protect your daughters...

And having a president that bragged about mistreating women. I think it is telling. People only resign from political office when they face pressure to do so. Particularly from their base. The GOP are not giving that.

Moral majority and Christian values indeed.

Look Raist bunnies...
