    Not at all. Trump as President has the authority and power as the chief Law official in the land, to pardon and fire anyone he wishes on a federal level, but specifically to this article, the Justice Department and that includes special investigators.

    Now politically, he'd pay a price for sure, but legally and constitutionally, he is well within his right to do so.

I've heard conflicting legal opinions. My understanding is that Trump cannot impede an investigation into his own criminality. And while there is no law against collusion, there is a law regarding conspiracy and aiding and abetting cyber intrusions.

Yeah, it is a confusing point. Nixon's lawyers indicated that he would. That said, I am not sure that the GOP has the spine to make Trump pay for anything that is not pretty horrible. Like if he is caught beating his wife full on camera (not saying he beats his wife) than they would consider doing something eventually.

And even then there would be some that would keep supporting the guy.
