> THE FLORA are finally named and that subplot finally moves forward some to an unidentified planet locale, led by the still unnamed green thumbed leader thumbed boss where 'some saps are gonna run' - if not die. HEY, what if their leader/grower is THE GARDENER?!

HA! Called it! \:D

All-New Guardians of the Galaxy 009 (2017)

Making that educated guess felt good. This chapter -with another individual flashback arc- NOT SO MUCH. The art was okay but the timeframing is unnecessarily disorienting. The whole Soulstone Quest has lost all nuance as the priority of it's telling gets pushed back at least another month. The very first panel of this ish should have had some kind of timestamp on it. Argh. This 'flashback chapter' focusses on explain Groot's stunted growth. Rocket's bootlegging felt repetitiviely random but then things got properly dramatic as Groot saves his rodent friend as The Gardener strikes him down. The absolute distraught pain that Rocket felt over Groot's death only resonated nicely by superimposing the exact same trauma he went thru in the first movie. In the end The Gardener remakes the Groot he destoyed and at the same time Rocket regrows the original (as per the movie - along with the "YOU" ARE GROOT) from a thornseed he was slipped. The ending was more predictable than praiseworthy given we already knew the results going in. The Gardener is still to teclaim his mysterious Cosmic Status post-Incursion and the real Groot is still stuck at 2 feet tall for unclear reason.

The Elders Of The Universe. The Grandmaster, Collector, Champion, The Runner (Is he still around?), and The Gardner. It's so cool that they're all back. I might get this one in trade.
