Reply Subj: Congratulations DC! Aquaman film is fantastic! (No spoiler...just a small/minor rant from a Thor fan)

Watched Aquaman. It's good. It's really good. I will even go far as to say, it's one of the best superhero movie i have ever seen. I will give it the ultimate compliment...given I am a huge Thor fanboy, this is better than any movie from Marvel Studios (even avengers, I mean it), and if JAMES WAN had directed Thor, it would have been a dream come true film for me. The Aquaman movie has more action and memorable fight sequences than all the movies from the Thor trilogy, Incredible Hulk and Captain America 1 combined! James Wan is the game changer. The performances from Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman all sucked (in terms of acting, and lack of charisma), the director more than made up for their deficiencies. DC and Warner Bros. need to pay James Wan $100M for his masterpiece.

I'm surprised how much some people here loved this movie. The story is utterly conventional and predictable and the execution doesn’t rescue it. Despite the occasional striking visuals (particularly in Atlantis and the Trench) and the one good action scene (set in Sicily), the movie is sunk by laughably cliched dialogue, unfunny humor, ultra-bland villains (boy is Patrick Wilson terrible), Nicole Kidman’s creepy plastic-surgery visage, and all around pedestrian acting (even Willem Dafoe phones it in, and Amber Heard, in the worst wig to ever appear in a superhero movie, is an uninspired black hole on the screen). For such a superficial genre film, the whole thing is way too drawn out introducing seven undersea kingdoms in a stupefying 143 minutes. By the time some throwaway crustacean army shows up with no setup to battle the Atlanteans, I was ready to watch paint dry instead. Mamoa is better than he was in Justice League but still feels more like a writer’s construct than a human being.
