They're middling. Not great. I think I enjoyed Dr. Strange, Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy because those aren't popular characters. There was no pressure for them to be good. The Avengers movies were a chore to get through for me. I like Norse Mythology so the Thor movies were already in my wheel house. I hated the Iron Man ones. I was pleasantly surprised by the Captain America ones...I hate the comic character but I enjoyed the actor and the Cap movies.
Quote:I guess I'd say top tier were the Nolan Batman films. Well, the first two. But just under that I'd say, as a whole, the Fox X-Men movies. I say "as a whole", because obviously I'm not talking about Apocalypse or what have you, but when a film is a sustainable franchise it can contain a weaker movie.
I loved the Nolan movies. Even the 3rd one everyone else hated.
Nolan didn't lose me until Inception and Interstellar.
Quote:But both the Fox X-Men and the Nolan movies are able to... to an extent... "surprise". They have a bit of an edge to them, a little darkness to Marvel's more colourful and predictable clashes.
Oh no no no I could never say anything good about the X-Men movies.
1. Nolan Batman movies - Great
2. Marvel Studios movies - Average
3. DC movies - Below Average
4. Fantastic Four movies - vomit
5. X-Men related movies - dog sh!t after it's petrified and turned white but still sticks to your floor...except Deadpool which I loved. But me and my co-workers were drunk when we went and saw it.
Quote:So if Fox can do the X-Men so well... why can't they do the Fantastic Four?
False argument. They can't do the X-Men well at all. X-Men movies are the worst. No one should ever look to them for inspiration on how to do something correctly. They're cautionary tales designed to warn you away.
Quote:I didn't mind the last FF movie, and there were others on here who didn't. I think they were about two of us. But even as its biggest "It wasn't THAT bad" supporter, I'd still put it lower than probably any Marvel movie. It's really bottom of the pile. Probably even lower than the stuff DC is cranking out.
I would put every X-Men/Fantastic Four movie below the DC movies. None of them are good. They're not related to topic at hand but throw Sony's Spider-Man movies in there as well...all were horrible. I thought Batman vs Superman was horrible and I can't make excuses for it...but I still didn't like the X-Men or Wolverine or Fantastic Four movies...except maybe that first X-Men one with Michael Fassbender. No no scratch that I liked his Magneto character but hated everyone else. And Deadpool which was like watching something meant for horrible people like me to enjoy.
