I was at my local comic shop today and they told me that Johnny appeared in the the latest issue of Amazing Spider-Man that can out a couple of weeks ago. I decided to peek.

    Quote:
As you may recall, Parker Industries took over the FF Headquarters after Secret Wars and promised Johnny he would take care of it for them. Well, it turns out Peter reneged on that pledge and decided to sell the Baxter building to pay off some debt or other obligation. Johnny was quite unhappy about this and calls Peter on it. A fight ensues.

This is one example of a general complaint I hold against Slott: his Peter Parker is not the highly conscientious Peter we knew for four decades. This is a Peter who will chase the girlfriend of one of his buddies - and who will break a deeply significant promise he made to Johnny Storm. This is what I can't tolerate and is the primary reason I haven't bought a Spider-Man comic for most of this century - other than Spider-Man/Deadpool, where the whole theme has to do with Peter being Wade's moral compass.

Nevertheless - is it possible Doc SpOck sold the Baxter Building?

Another telling act by Marvel with respect to iconic landmarks associated with the Fantastic Four.

What it's really showing, I think, is how non-existent the FF is without Reed. He was everything.

    Quote:
As they point out, why couldn't Johnny simply buy it back? Isn't he supposedly flush with cash as sole heir?  Thanks Slott! For some reason, despite Marvel showing that Johnny inherited 5 billion from Reed and Sue, he only thinks he has $16,000 in saving?!!  What complete and utter nonsense and slop!  That's some crap editing.

Either that or the 5 billion dollar revelation occurred subsequent to the Spider-Man altercation. Granted, the old Marvel would have given us a footnote. Maybe in a post-Bendis reality, footnotes will be cool again.
