The deserted Baxter Building was up for auction until it was purchased to serve as the headquarters of Parker Industries. If Johnny & Ben had had enough money at one time or another to outbid Alchemax, Hammer & Roxxon, they would have bought it. The main unanswered question is what happened to the Future Foundation and its assets after the disbanding of the team ? Normally, the FF organization should have been the final owner of the building before Parker Industries bought it. The demise of the Future Foundation & the sale of its assets might have been orchestrated by the Quiet Man even though it is not confirmed in story.
Since Parker Industries ran into bankruptcy (thanks to the Superior Doctor Octopus & Hydra), the Baxter Building had to be sold to pay the debtors & investors and Peter Parker had no choice in the matter.
Also, there is one certainty about Dan Slott : he loves the FF and would be the first fan to be glad that they are back.
During his Marvel career, the FF have always made huge cameos in the books he wrote, one way or another.
It is obvious that Ben Grimm is one of his favorite characters. It was he who had the idea that Spider-Man is the "5th" member of the FF and that he is part of their family.
The current plot of the Baxter Building has allowed him to make the Human Torch appear in the book.
The friendship between Spider-Man & Human Torch has always been complex.
Johnny has a tendency to start arguments with his best friends, especially Ben & Peter.
If Peter had not bought the building, it would have been sold anyway to a third party.
Still, we don't know yet who bought the building.
So, it is a cliffhanger which may have a resolution later.
It is only a speculation but I suppose that Doctor Doom might be the current owner of the building. For him, it is an opportunity that it is too good to pass up.
