Due to Marvel's recent IronDoom run, Doom will likely now be portrayed as a powerful anti-hero rather than a villain in the MCU. This complicates things a bit for bringing back the FF. They may initially oppose him, but they will have Doom walk that line between hero and villain. He'll do the wrong things but for perhaps good reasons, etc.

They had him doing this when he was babysitting Val. He's done this before many times. All his past atrocities will be re-spun as him being evil against worse evil! Sort of The Punisher on steroids. Doom is fights evil with evil. I don't see Doom as a villain any longer. Rather, a vigilante of epic proportions.

Things come and go in the comic world as you know. No one seems safe from the blowing winds of editor's needs to reinvent the wheel.

Take Deathstroke (wrong company but a great example), only a few decades ago he was a semi-pedophile (his relationship with Tara) and an attempted child murderer (Judas Contract), yet just a few years later he is part of a superhero army (Panic in the Sky) bent on saving the world recruited by Superman himself.

Comicvine put it best by describing him as "Deathstroke can be a "violent gun-toting mercenary, unafraid to kill", a likable anti-hero, or just another hired gun meant to fill in the pages. "

Could Doom, Magneto, Loki all not fall into this swinging pendulum.

How many characters from both companies have been played this way, like ping pong balls bouncing at the will of the latest trendy author.

Hero-Villain-Hero-Villain....Hero again.........for now.
