Aside from MTiO Marvel has sucked me in with the latest Avengers weekly story. It's really just a pretty tons of characters story, but its fun and fast moving. Without giving too much away the issue opens with Johnny narrating the situation, comparing Falcon's leadership to Reed's and admitting that he's too hot headed to wait for Sam to figure it all out. There was plenty of inner dialog from Johnny, done well by Waid, and the issue ends with a cliffhanger trying to make us think the Torch has made a grave mistake and will be vaporized.

Of course we know he'll live. The trap which also seemed to claim Black Dwarf is obviously the 'flag' for the Grandmaster's game. But the inner monologue from Johnny ties well to MTiO and his current mental state. Rulk is going for the prize at the same time as him but Johnny beats him to it to represent the FF.

I picked it up as the Torch was featured in it and represented very well. I found it very confusing as I've been away from Marvel and the Avengers for a long time. Honestly, the art and the coloring of the work was not very clear which made it hard to follow, too. Had to read it a couple times to follow the action and even then I would have preferred a clearer definition of the action. But I appreciated Johnny's inner dialogue and role in the conflict.
