As an IT person I always hate Arrow's Felicity centric episodes. I think the plot of this one was some guy tries to destroy the internet. Ugh.

There is just something cheesy about them. Felicity only works when you don't think about how easily they do all these super-hacker things. And these episodes bring it into sharper focus and exacerbates the trouble.

The villain was played by the creator of the Machine from Person of Interest (good show)

Michael Emerson was great on Lost. But it seems like they have given him a crappy hacker character for the Arrowverse.

Isn't he the Big bad though? He is the one who found Black Siren.

If he is the big bad, it's really disappointing because his evil plan to destroy the internet didn't work so anything else he does will be a step down.

And this episode was so disappointing. Who is he, why did he want to destroy the internet? Why did he want to destroy the internet? Why do we care?

They got Michael Emerson...why waste him? This is the guy they should have hired as the Thinker on Flash. Michael Emerson should get big bad material.

Oliver is having trouble staying retired and takes Felicity's place at the computers while she is in the field with the team. Apparently Felicity overhauled all computer systems so that according to Oliver even his kid William could operate things. I think he also suited up in a generic costume and gasmask to hide his face to give Felicity a quick hand against some goons.

So basically Oliver becomes Overwatch for a moment.

Anyone else impressed he knew how to turn the computer on? Our Oliver isn't so bright when it comes to technology.

The villains big plan is to apparently overload and destroy the servers that run the entire internet. A plot that has been done a few times over the years from some other shows and movies, but not that often. Still, imagine if that occurred.....

Anyway it turns out that the plan was to get Felicity to take down the firewall that protected the main processor of the internet server to save it so that he could plant a special virus into the system. He could have done it himself but this way, Felicity's digital fingerprints are at the scene of the crime.

    Quote:
And the servers needed to do that were in Star City instead of somewhere else?

Yeah they just happen to be in Star City. Ridiculous!

anyway while Olicity spends some quality time at the end, Oliver gets a call for help from.......Slade Wilson

Also apparently the villain is the one that saved Black Siren from the island.

I kind of wish they would reveal this guy is the Calculator. But I think they wasted the Calculator on Felicity's dad...man that went nowhere.

Just couldn't get into this one.

I too found it quite dull. But I did like the whole bit about Black Siren not being able to put a finger on what had changed about Green Arrow.

I still think it's a shame to waste such a great actor as Michael Emerson on such a bad role.

The only part I liked was the beginning when Black Siren flirted with the guy. She looked hot in that scene!

PPP

I think he stated at the end that his goal wasn't the destruction of the internet, that it was a smokescreen for his real goal.

Not sure, can't bring myself to watch it again.

I liked his character in Person of Interest a lot better.
