Is this Brainaic gthe same one that has now shown up in Superman then?

He seems to have now been set up, along with Darkseid, as one of their major baddies?

This version of Brainiac is not the same version as the one seen in the Superman books in recent years no, but while he is revealed as working for Larfleeze we do get the intriguing hint that this Brainiac 2.0 is a restored version, something rebuilt, and it begs the question as to whether Robert Venditti is referring back to a reference made back in 1986's History of the DC Universe, where Marv Wolfman makes brief mention to this Brainiac being destroyed by The Omega Men, in the Vega System, which as you will know is where Larfleeze has his home!

Looking Brainiac's entry up on Wiki I see that the above is even made mention of in there, so that may be where Venditti found inspiration for using this Brianiac and making his story link to The Orange Lantern,
