He only had them as cameos in his run.

To be honest i can't recall Johns ever showing Sonar or Evil Star in his tenure on the series, he was too heavily invested in developing his own Emotional Spectrum Mythology to spend time on Hal's classic rogues - it's remarkable really that he made an exception for Hector hammond, and an early appearance from The Shark that was never followed up on and left open-ended.

His ignoring Sonar as a character might be understandable given much of Hal's adventures were now set off out in space, Evil Star though has always been (for me at least) the single most wasted of Hal's rogues. There'a an awful lot of potential in this villain, one of the few of his classic foes who can convincingly match him strength for strength and one with a potentially sympathetic and engaging backstory that would resonate even today... If looking for an example one needs only recall his appearance in The Darkstars to see how and why the character could work well today as a worthwhile and major protagonist for Green Lantern and the wider DC Universe. \(yes\)
