I'm quite similar to you, in that regard. I also dropped reading comics circa 2015. While I've always thought Pak to be, well, a decent writer, I refused to read a book dedicated to his literal self-insert being the strongest guy around.

I'm a big Greg Pak fan, but to me the only Hulk is Bruce Banner. Marvel has taken the original concept of Hulk and destroyed the uniqueness of it. I don't blame Greg Pak for what Marvel Comics implements and I honesty tried to give it a chance. Marvel has taken the originality of it's Universe and turned it into DC's wherein the the "suit" makes the character instead of Marvel's original concept of the circumstance that gave them their power.

My only hope is that Banner will truly return around the release of the new Thor movie. However, much like you, my faith in Marvel is all but non-existent.

I want it to be the case, but I just don't have any faith in Marvel Comics.

He's... A Man-like MONSTER Astonishing force! He's... Indestructible! That's why you don't comprehend him; and because he IS......Immortal; the Battle Board will not tolerate his Savage Rampaging, nor his INCREDIBLE abilities!!! Watch out for that Gamma-Surge - the WORLDBREAKER!!!
Stan Lee - "The way I established the Hulk, the more he fought, the stronger he got...I assume at some point he'll get worn out, but NEVER the Hulk." Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine Oct 2006 issue - Proceeding Message from the CHURCH OF HULK!!! Don't get Assassinated!
