The story goes that while PAD wanted Betty to give birth (leading to events similar to "What Savage Beast"), Marvel editorial nixed the pregnancy, leading to a showdown. He nearly walked away, but then again he would have been sacrificing the other stories he'd been leading up to (i.e. the merger). So rather than quit, he let editorial have its way but refused to write the actual story where Betty suffered the miscarriage (#360). Ironically it was written by Bob Harras, the editor who'd originally hired PAD to write the Hulk.

Was another time be around the "Heroes Reborn" era?
I've heard rumblings about that, but always dismissed them as that...rumors.
