Was another time be around the "Heroes Reborn" era?
I've heard rumblings about that, but always dismissed them as that...rumors.

From what I understand that was a little different. Marvel was poised to cancel Hulk at the conclusion of Onslaught, but Peter David lobbied to keep the book. There weren't originally supposed to be two Hulks, just the one going to the HR planet. (Obviously this was all fixed in plenty of time before Onslaught: MU was written/drawn, as that's where the split happened.) I also suspect--although I've never been able to confirm--that PAD was offered the HR: The Return miniseries as recompense for having nearly had to let go of the main Hulk book.
