Quote: International Iron Man included in the count. Not sure why Superior Iron Man counts and International Iron Man doesn't.

Kinda smacks of 'We need an issue #600 soon, so count in a way that gives us one within the next year.'

Like you, I also noticed the oddity of searching for somebody whose location is well known. Maybe somebody kidnaps him? Also the bit about the grave for somebody who isn't currently dead. Maybe this was from a previous death??

And, finally, what is up with the 'old' armor??

Can't say that I have high hopes for this.

Way back in the days of the Secret Invasion, I was certain that Tony would be revealed as a Skrull.

Several clues were given about this, including in comics not written by Bendis, as in a She-Hulk issue by Peter David. But for me the main clue was given in Might Avengers # 1, where by no means a normal human could have survived what Ultron did to Tony. Because when Ultron reshaped the Iron Man's armor, every single bone in Tony's body would have to be broken and only a shapeshifter could have had a chance to survive that.

I believe that Bendis, clearly out of ideas for the character since the first arc he wrote, will say that the Tony we saw from the second half of Extremis is an impostor or came from an alternative reality, hence the Iron Secretary armor on the cover. That would explain his acts during the Civil War I, why he didn’t go to Rhodey's funeral and that Doom knows this, that’s why it wasn’t shown what he said to Tony in the last issue of the previous volume.
