I'm usually not a fan of such wide-sweeping retcons (see: May, Aunt). In this case, however, I could live with it.

Most of the stories since the Iron Secretary have been disappointing. Only a few have been okay (and some of those, like Superior Iron Man, petered out). None have been truly great. One of them -- Civil War I -- is a runner-up to The Crossing for the Worst Iron Man Story Ever award.

Yeah, I could very much live with pressing reset to 2002 or 2003 and picking up from there.

Me neither. If it were up to me, I would do it in the '' Avengers Forever '' style, where I would look for all the inconsistencies and bad decisions made in the meantime and explain them organically, within the stories. But for that to happen, Marvel would have to admit that mistakes were made and that they wouldn’t do. Hence the use of the "One More Day" style to erase everything from a certain point. And that is a good point to restart. Too bad that Marvel’s old habit of reboot a title with the same creative team that ran it into the ground remains.
