> THE SEARCH FOR TONY STARK Part 1
> Tony Stark has vanished! The mystery deepens as Stark friends and foes must decide, finally, who will wield the power of Iron Man! All the contenders are in position, and all the armor is polished. There can only be one Armored Avenger! The path to the most startling Iron Man story ever begins here! PLUS: Includes 3 bonus MARVEL PRIMER PAGES! Story by Robbie Thompson and a TBA artist! Rated T+

On the plus side, it's all about Tony Stark. Unfortunately, he may OR MAY NOT appear in that final scene which may OR MAY NOT be the best storytelling choice to tease readers (back). Oh, there's the nebulous subplotting of an untold number of probably neat choice supervillains that may or may not be planning some sort of revenge on Victor who are unseen between the pages. Another nit: it's hard to imagine that Stark Industries be lost so easily since board of voters seemed to be impotent and incompetent, to this point, at overthrowing MJ, Amanda and Friday. Of a few seen reviews already typed out, it's easier to agree closely with this one:

... ...#593 is a slow start. The issue is mostly a conversation that sets up where this story could go. This is not friendly for new or returning readers. Doctor Doom only has a brief appearance that is average at best. However the book’s ending creates an interesting mystery to encourage readers to get the next issue. Hopefully the next Invincible Iron Man issue will progress the story in an exciting manner.

Except, omit the word UNFORTUNATELY from "Unfortunately Doom’s appearance..." since it was long enough. Also, change "...These scenes are a great way to add some excitement to the issue." to: "These scenes are chronologically curious in a lazy storytelling element way but do way to add some excitement to the issue." Here are some of the other varied posts found for you to easier compare comment since it's been 4 days since it's release of the "revamp/relaunch"...

Good issue. It sets up all the players for the upcoming arc. I love Doom Iron Man. It was good to see him here. Some of the parts were a little odd and confusing. I would like for someone to explain the ending to me. Not sure I really understood who that was supposed to be. Art was great. Caselli and Maleev are very good at what they do and both draw the characters they are used to, Caselli (RiRi), Maleev (Doom). I thought that was a really cool way to do that. = 7.5/10

That was a little disappointing for me. I expected more (I see a review of a french friend & have much more expectation). I find this overrated. The part about Superior Iron Man make no sense here. And I come to read Riri, not doom, not Ben Grimm & even less Tony Stark. So ... I'm not fond of it. Cover - 1/2 Writing - 2/3 Arts - Well a little Shallow ... 2/3 Feelings - Waiting for more now. And It's give the feeling Bendis pack Away Riri 0/2. = 5/10

Invincible Iron Man #593 has a lot of ground to cover to bring readers up to speed on Brian Michael Bendis’ run, and for the most part, it succeeds. Although the double-page spread of Friday delivering an exposition bomb was perhaps not the most elegant solution in the early part of the issue. Bendis is far more effective when he lets the actions of Ironheart and Doctor Doom define who they are in relation to Iron Man. In fact, Alex Maleev’s interlude with Doom stands out as the most engaging part of the issue. However, Caselli is also a great comic artist, even if his style and Maleev’s didn’t mesh well at all. One of Bendis’ strengths is that he’s put together a very eclectic supporting cast that includes Tony Stark’s real mother, Mary Jane Watson, and even the Thing. Whatever shortcomings that Ironheart and Doom have as protagonists have been easy to overlook thanks to the other characters. But Iron Man is the rightful star of his own book, and his return is overdue. -Blair Marnell @IGN Final Score: 7.2/10

... ...#593 continues the excellence of Bendis’ run on Iron Man and seamlessly melds the two Iron Man titles into one but continues the wonderful tales of Ironheart and the Infamous Iron Man. This new direction is an excellent read and a must BUY for any Iron Man fan.

Yeah, pretty good actually. The styles of art being wildly different, sure, but the writing is adjusted for Doc Doom as well, so I think it works fine, if one have been reading Infamous as well. (I've only been reading infamous)

Legacy made me pick up I.M again, and I'm intrigued! = ) Will be interesting to see where Bendis is going with this.

What is the general opinions of the Iron-fans regarding Stefano Caselli as an artist btw? I find him fairly good, very capable, but not necessarily iconic. A bit like Lee Weeks on I.M, really - very capable, nothing to complain about, but not quite that memorable.

For comparison, modern artists which I find to be iconic on the character include Adi Granov, Salvador Larroca and even David Marquez to an extent.
(they've all been tasked with designing the new main armour for Iron Man, notably... so was Greg Land, but I did not find his black and yellow design iconic, it felt somehow... bland)
