Quote:Eh, it doesn't sound like they are fixing the fundamental problems of the character, which is a failure to keep her grief a living thing -

I really have to say, I don't get you on this issue. Superheroes are almost never protecting the people they love as their primary mission. Most of the time Spider-Man was foiling bank robberies and Captain America was thwarting some nefarious plot to undermine the freedoms and values of a great nation.
I know you have this theory where the missions have to be personal or the readers don't care but I don't feel you on this. Superheroes fight evil. Readers care because they want to see evil fought. Justice is personal for all of us.
Sure, it often turns out that by some twist of fate a loved one gets caught in the cross hairs, but that's not what the mission was originally about.

But you raise a point worth pursuing. What sorts of villains should Riri face? I'm picturing ridiculous female versions of Tony's rogues. Spymistress. Eyelash. The Meltrix. Titanium Girl.
OK, yes, I agree, Titanium Girl sounds awesome. She already has a theme song by Sia.
I lean toward female super-geniuses as Riri's enemies. But not just technologists. Let's have chemists, geneticists, neuropsychologists, physicists, and any other sciences that seem potentially life-threatening.
