Turning the original greatest superhero team into a bunch of secret superspies?

Not very well.

Didn't like the version of the team in Smallville either. It simply doesn't feel right, not to mentioned shoed in, especially when the era of the superheroes/meta-humans in these shows starts with either Clark Kent or the Flash.

Even worse is the whole 'They operated in in the shadows' approach, that DC is apparently adopting in regard to the JSA.
That might work on the Defenders or the X-Men, but never on the JSA.
