I bought into the IMAX hype and decided to catch this on the big screen. The opening sequence is great as you can see the rain drops, leaves and players really clear. Then that disappears for the next 83 minutes.

The first episode is good as introduces the main players very fast. I think that Black Bolt, Medusa and Gorgon have been well cast for the heroes. The villains however have been better cast. Maximus, Iwan Rheon, is the standout of the first episode to me. Maybe all that fame from Game Of Thrones is blurring my objectivity on this but man that guy just plays a bad guy to perfection. His main tough gal Auran is going to be a favorite of mind.

I wish they had cast someone taller. Great actor though.

On the bad side, Karnak was not done well. I have liked Ken Leung in other roles but He just didn't jump out in the first 2 episodes. Felt flat to me as I thought he was just collecting a pay cheque. Also confused by this Karnaks power as I was amazed how he made it out of one jam, twice, involving 4 attackers earlier by using his gifts but was to be felled by a branch later on.

Really? He was the one I was actually looking forward to. Honestly his character on Lost and comic Karnak both have that harsh hostile edge so I figured he would make this work.

Lockjaw looked okay for a TV CGI character. However he got rendered useless until needed. I think they used the majority of the sfx budget in the first episode.

Oh yeah, the second episode is going to drag for some. Nothing really happens. Moves the players around and that is about it.

At least I got a poster out of it. Looking to see how the mini series goes.
